I use Yellowstuff Kevlar if you can get them. They bite hard and they have a long liner life. If you only have a choice between Green and Red, then get the Greenstuff pads.

Oughta be chain driven. I have set to see a VVT-i engine that was belt driven due to the stress the adjustable cams would place on a belt. What country are you from? We don't have the 1.4 stateside so it would help to know.
