    Racing with a Corolla S

Turbos are coming but I'm afraid they'll be like some : to get good EPA rating with small engines and good numbers with reviewers without being satisfying on either in real life driving.

Any way to show "Current Speed" in the center screen of the Tachometer?

I don't think the function exist in current Corolla nor that it can be activated. Been listed in the "minus" of many reviews.

What's up with my gas mileage?

I would also add that EPA ratings aren't promises. They reflect testing in a specific conditions/environment. Their main purpose is for comparison. Granted your car and/or calculation are OK, if you get 26 MPG out of a 32 MPG rated car, you can't assume you'd get the full 26 MPG rating out of a...

What's up with my gas mileage?

2 weeks is a very short sample. Did you calculate your MPG or do you rely on the car computer. If so, "average" is not as precise and will only reflect reality on a longer term. Only one "hard acceleration", where instant MPG might be very low, and this data is disproportionally affected with...

    Winter tire questions

I forgot about the sensors : I don't have them on my winter wheels. The TPMS is simply always on, after flashing, in winter. Come back to normal after a few minutes in spring. As far as thread design and depth, some are specialized (snow, ice, slush, all) so you have to do a little shopping.

2014 corolla S CVT traction control

There is a thread about racing that ended up about it... though nobody has been able to document the fact that old dyna-mode (pedal code) disable it "more" than holding the button until the two lights (TC and VSC) come on. Bear in mind that in any case you'll still get ABS and REV limitation...

    20,000 miles Hum/Drone

Hard to say with so little details : Engine drone ? Trans drone ? Rough pavement drone (tire wear) ?

How much can our cvts handle??

Just out of curiosity, since I don't know about the "max" capacity of our CVT : they are precision unit with specific programming so is it possible that some program modification would help or be required with mods ?

How often do you S-Owners use Sport mode?

I don't think any variant has both mode... S has "Sport mode" button, LE Eco+ has "Eco mode" button. Maybe you're talking S on transmission and/or Eco light that monitor driving and illuminates when consuming less. Personally I don't care about selectable mode. I like the car as is (so I got LE...

2014 Buying - Anything reliability wise to look for?

17K is also about what I got form Firestones on a previous car... No experience with Continental but current Corolla has Hankook seems to be holding pretty well. Is 36 the recommended PSI for your model ? Mine says 32.

    Racing with a Corolla S

Maybe ABS is what make some people feel like it's not "completely" disabled. Since you tried it, is ABS also disabled with dyna-mode ? I'm confused... then how do you get it back if you wish so ? Usually, with the dyna-mode, TC/VSC were back with restart.

    HID lighting, LED conversion?

I find stock LED wonderful. They were one reason, among others, to choose the car. Snow – or rain – reflection comes from brightness and more or less focus rather than color. The sharp cut-off helps.

    HID lighting, LED conversion?

Bluer tint : depend on where you're living (laws, regulations). Where I am (Canada) it's an absolute no-no as it reduces visibility (especially compared to the "whiter" white of LED Turn signal : I really don't know but you'll find threads about it on this forum like this one...

    Winter tire questions

I used to find all-season OK (some could be when newer) until snow tires became mandatory where I live. It's almost a night and day difference ! It's not as much for snow and ice (road are almost always shoveled and salted) but their general behavior on colder temperature. The softer gum does...

    HID lighting, LED conversion?

Grille : you may start here http://www.shopsar.com/toyota-corolla-mesh-grille-p/1127-x108-14.htm (their black doesn't look black to me...) then go on searching google with parts numbers and description. Headlights : I understand them. At least to me, going HID instead of LED is like downgrading...

2014 Toyota Corolla 1.8 CVT Exclusive Tyre Wear Problem

If alignment is OK, another possibility is unproper inflation. May depend on the type of road but most likely poor tire quality. Unlikely a design issue, as they sell millions of those and no trend/surge in complaints has appeared.

2014 Buying - Anything reliability wise to look for?

The headlights either work or not, but also check the assembly for cracks, moist, etc. Corolla comes with a variety of tires depending on models (Hankook, Michelin, Continental, Firestone). Never had a good noise and longevity experience with Firestone on other cars. Oh ! And rattles ! Yes, some...

2014 Buying - Anything reliability wise to look for?

Corolla are very reliable. 11th generation (2014) looks different, has a longer wheel base and a more spacious interior but beside that and the CVT, underneath it's really the same as the 10h gen. Some remains afraid of CVTs, because a lot of manufacturers screwed their first generations - and...

    2014 (or 2015) LE Suspension/interior vs. S (plus)

I'm from Canada, where cars are marketed differently because of the weak dollar. Here, auto climate strip was a Eco, Plus or Premium thing including for S (but heated seat were standard :). In US only the most basic "L" had knobs. By the way, the L also had no cruise control and cheaper fabric...
