i also replaced the front struts (whole assemblies) and the sway shackles and the clunking remained. I had new tires put on and when the guy was removing the front tires he notice the inner steering tie rods were worn, so I had them both replaced and then had the alignment done. Guess...
forgot to mention that if the drain is plugged, the A/C drip water will also run onto the passenger side floor instead of outside the car. If your using the A/C the floor will still get wet even if it hasn't rained.
It is more than likely the drain for the A/C which is probably also the drain for water entering through the vents in front of the windshield. I had the same problem and used a can of compressed air (the kind you use to blow off your computer keyboard) and blew the air into the drain hose that...
I've got exactly the same problem with my 98 VE. It feels like the A/C compressor going on & off or the trans converter locking & unlocking. I know in some cars with locking converters that 45mph seems to be the common denominator to when the converter is suppose to lock. My car has only 51,000...
I had the same problem with my 98 Corolla...I just used a can of compressed air that is used for dusting computer keyboards and blew it into the little rubber hose sticking through the firewall on the passenger side in the engine compartment.
You have somewhat of the same problem as me. My 98 corolla has 51K on it and any of the valuation (Kelly and Edmunds) don't list a vehicle with really low mileage. The cars they do list have 175 to 200K miles on them and they are valued at $2900 to $3000. Unfortunately (as I've discovered) time...
I have a 98 corolla and all the inside door handles and 3 of the outside handles were broken. I got all the new handles from RockAuto, but beware, the new handles are not made any better than the original ones so you've got to be kinda gentle with them or they'll break again. Also, get some...
I just bought my 98 corolla from a friend and the car only has 51,000 miles on it. All the inside door handles and 3 of the outside handles were broken. The handles are made VERY cheaply and it's a common problem. I went to Rockauto and ordered all the handles at very reasonable prices. It is...
I've got a 98 Corolla and at approx 45mph the engine surges. It almost feels like the trans converter is locking and unlocking or like the A/C compressor is going on and off. Also, when I stop it feels like the engine is almost going to stall. The car has only 51,000 miles on it and otherwise...
If your car is a "VE" it only came with a 3 speed trans. On the CE it was an option and standard equipment on the LE. If you've got an OD button it will be a 4 speed.
I had clunking problem in the front end of my 98 corolla. I changed strut assemblies and sway bar shackles to no avail. It turned out to be the inner tie-rods of the steering linkage.
