How Do You Like Your Dealer?

Thanks guys, it sounds like from this (and some E-mails I've gotten from others) I'm not alone in my thinking. As for the issues with my car, I decided I'm not taking it back to them. It's idling fine now and the seat I should be able to repair myself. It's a 40 minute drive from where I live...

How Do You Like Your Dealer?

So maybe it's just me but I've had negative experiences with two of my local Toyota Dealerships and I'm wondering if it's just me (possible, I'm rather dis-trustful of most mechanics) or if others are having issues getting proper service at their local dealers as well. I'll detail the most...

What Did You Do to Your Corolla Today?

I dropped mine off at the dealership where I bought almost three years ago to have a couple of recalls taken care of. It hasn't been back there since I bought it, the Service Writer said they missed it  Kevin

1998 Corolla - Blank Odo, Speedo Zero, Transmission Fails

You might want to check the speed sensor. I had a similar problem on another car (not a Corolla) which gave me the same symptoms as you describe, with the exception of the LCD going blank and changing the speed sensor (which sends speed data to the cluster and the trans) fixed it. Kevin

2002 Corolla - Burning Too Much Oil?

If you have one plug with corrosion on it that could be indicative of a blown headgasket. How often are you having to add coolant? Kevin

2014 Corolla - Headlights Seriously Too Bright

Since we're on the subject of hi-beams can I admit that I miss foot-operated hi-beam switches? I have them in two of my (obviously) older cars. I spend a lot of my free time in the mountains or out in the desert and sometimes, when rounding a corner I just don't have a free-hand to reach-over...

Models/Years That Have the Battery Saving Function?

No offense intended but I'm pretty sure any feature which allows a major drain on the battery without the engine running (such as the headlights being left on for 20-30 minutes) wouldn't be much of a benefit. I know GM cars and trucks give 10 minutes before they cut power. To my knowledge my...

2010 Carolla S - Running Warmer Than Usual

No, at least in my '10 Corolla the temp gauge gets to just below the middle and stays there. It sounds like your engine is running hot. To see just how hot you'd need to get a Scan Gauge (or the like) which plugs into your OBD port and can tell you real-time coolant temps (among a myriad of...

    2014 Corolla S CVT Problems

Is there a way to check the trans fluid on a CVT? If there is a quick check might tell if there is something internally wrong with the trans. Kevin

1197 Corolla DX - Continously Replacing Wheel Bearing

Two things come to mind, first are you setting the pre-load correctly and second, at this point it might be a good idea to check (or replace) the Spindle. Definitely odd that you're going through bearings that quickly. Kevin

Looks good! I really need to do my Corolla before my interior fades anymore than it already has. Kevin

    Rotary Shift Knobs -The Future?

I'm with you DK, although to my knowledge no automaker makes a half-ton P/U truck with a stick anymore :( Kevin

2014 Corolla - Locks Me Out

My '99 4Runner did this too so it's a post-modern Toyota thing too  Kevin

    Need A Boost?

FWIW I started my Corolla last night for the first time in about 3 weeks. Stock battery and has been locked with the alarm set the whole time. Due to the age of the battery I was ready to jump it but it fired right up, although it did crank-over a bit slower than normal. Fishy I think you...

    2015 Corolla - OTD price

It'll likely depend on where you are in the country. From what I've seen on this board prices vary based on location. Probably related to demand; here is So.Cal. I see a lot of new Corolla's on the road which tells me demand is high and from what I've seen so are prices. Paying with a...

    Rotary Shift Knobs -The Future?

Some would say I'm a simple-sort of guy; I like cheese on my burgers, my bacon crispy and my women curvy (I had a hard time thinking of a third thing). My ride for work is an F-450 which uses a column shifter. It's there, it works and I never have to think about it. Well last week the truck...

2011 Corolla - Buzzing Fan After Scheduled Maintenance

It's possible that a piece of debris fell into the fan motor when the filter was changed or that the new filter wasn't installed properly. Checking is pretty simple, first take everything out of your glove box, then remove the end of the small strut on the right-hand side of the glove box (just...

2011 Corolla - Battery Drainage Issues

I doubt that. By comparison My Isuzu Amigo has an LED which relates to the alarm and blinks anytime the truck is off (faster if the engine is off and the alarm is not set, slower if the alarm is set but regardless it's always flashing at least once a second). That truck frequently sits for two...

    1996 Corolla - I Need Help

If you're running the wire straight to the trunk than I would run it underneath the car. To get it into the trunk you could either drill a hole or there should be a couple of rubber plugs back there. If it were me I would pass the wire through one of those plugs (actually I would cut and 'X'...

    Need A Boost?

I rarely jump someone using my own car, just too high a risk for damage to the ECM (and other devices) in a modern car for me to feel comfortable risking it. I carry a jump box when I travel, mine's made by Stanley and was a gift a couple of years ago but I doubt it cost more than $50. So...
