Auto-climate ? Front is for defogging the windshield and it overpass any other setting. It may or may not use AC, according to humidity level. Push auto again to resume normal climate control.

Sound perfectly normal to me. Engine breaking to prevent to much acceleration going downhill. You'd have a feeling of deceleration but the speed would remain about the same. The laws of physic would prevent a car from slowing by itself downhill !

Haven't notice excessive wear. Would anyway use seat cover onlyt if and after wear would become unbearable. I want to enjoy my car as is and don't care about protecting it for the next owner (or a few more bucks in resale value).
